I mean everything; including photography. What better way to present your portfolio then on immediacy of this device? The fanboy blogs have gone off scale on this one. Apple has ordered up millions from its China supplier in anticipation. Will it be the next big, “Gotta Have?!” Do not ask me. I stood in line for hours to snatch one of the first iPhones released and was presenting the virtues of mobile everything on it in a board room the very next morning. Yes. If it lives up to the hype, it will be another paradigm shift in the way images and communications are conducted. Honestly, to have such a device to show my portfolio of work to someone who just has enough time to hear my elevator pitch, may just win the job. No?
I give Steve Jobs so much credit for maintaining the focus on these devices and bringing them to market. There are so many capable solutions out there that never see their due success because the right mix of insight, determination and belief did not come into play. It is the same in the photography business I am in or any other endeavor where processes have to be tempered with some creative passion. “There are ten thousand hit songs in Nashville, but on a few ever make the radio.”
Update: Apple announced the iPad (wifi only) will be released to the american market April 3rd.
Update: Preordering began on Mid-March.
